Ground Support Equipment Mechanic (B025 CA)
We are seeking a skilled Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic to join our team at Fleet Logistics Support Squadron VR-57, located at NAS North Island, San Diego, CA. This role is critical to maintaining the readiness of C-40 Clipper aircraft by ensuring the safe operation, inspection, and repair of ground support equipment.
Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on GSE
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections, servicing, and testing of GSE to maintain operational readiness
- Use diagnostic equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, etc.) to analyze and resolve system malfunctions
- Service equipment with fuels, oils, coolants, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air
- Maintain external fuel and grounding systems, perform corrosion prevention, and support equipment mobility readiness
- Operate, inspect, and service GSE towing vehicles
- Document and update maintenance actions using automated systems to track repairs and trends
- Train and mentor junior mechanics in troubleshooting and repair procedures
- Adhere to Navy technical manuals, NAMP procedures, and strict safety standards, including hazardous material handling and disposal

- High school diploma or equivalent and 6+ years of relevant maintenance experience
- Hands-on experience with GSE or similar heavy mechanical/electrical equipment
- Proficiency with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical (AC/DC) system repair
- Experience with tire/wheel assembly, servicing, and disposal procedures
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills using advanced test equipment
- Valid state driverrsquo;s license
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends or on-call shifts when mission requires
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior U.S. Navy or U.S. military aviation maintenance background
- Familiarity with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP)
- Associate degree or higher in a related technical field
- Training/certifications in:
- Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) ndash; GSE
- Tire and Wheel
- Hydraulic Contamination Control
- Support Equipment Operator Training Licensing
