Battle Creek, MI - Duncan Aviation, in partnership with Rockwell Collins, announces the first completion of a Rockwell Collins Ascend IMS-3500 information management server on the Citation XLS+ platform under Rockwell Collins’ approved model list (AML) supplemental type certification (STC). Duncan Aviation avionics team members installed the aircraft information manager system, which allows for secure, remote and wireless data transfer capabilities to Pro Line 4- and Pro Line 21-equipped aircraft, in a Citation XLS+ at Duncan Aviation’s Battle Creek location.

Sanford, FL - StarPort, a Cambata Aviation International LLC company, has appointed Joseph Doubleday as director of maintenance. According to Roscoe Armstrong, StarPort's chief operating officer, says Doubleday will direct the day-to-day operations of the aircraft maintenance business, including avionics, overhaul and repair, refurbishment and paint.

May 24 is the birthday of Charles Taylor, mechanic to the Wright brothers, designer and builder of the first aircraft engine, and father of everything that is aircraft maintenance. His birthday is now celebrated as AMT Day. I would like to honor Taylor by paying homage to two individuals who are no longer with us — Bill O’Brien and Tom Hendershot.

West Star Aviation, Inc. offers a G-200 Lavatory Toilet Modification for G-200 aircraft with the 3-gallon lavatory tank. This modification replaces the existing tank with a new Zodiac 8-gallon tank. The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has awarded True Blue Power the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the TS835 Series Lithium Emergency Power Supply (EPS) for Beechcraft King Air 200 and 300 models. The TS835 Series Emergency Power Supply is the first lithium ion phosphate battery to gain STC approval by EASA for Beechcraft King Air 200/300 aircraft. The ETSO C179a-certified battery provides 24.5 VDC power for critical and standby equipment and maintains full capacity by recharging during normal flight operations.
