Coppell, TX - Superior Air Parts Inc. announces that Glen Golden has joined the company as its vice president of sales and marketing. Before joining Superior Air Parts, Golden owned Enhanced Aircraft Systems, which specialized in sales and marketing programs for companies developing STCs and PMAs. Prior to that, he was president of Engine Components Inc. (ECI). From 1988 to 2006, Golden held various management positions with Aerospace Products International (API).

Hartzell Engine Technologies LLC of Montgomery, AL, and Lamar Technologies LLC of Marysville, WA, recently executed a transaction to exchange certain product lines within their respective portfolios. Hartzell has sold to Lamar its electronics business unit, consisting of voltage regulators, overvoltage sensors, master control unit (MCU) and battery analyzer products. Lamar has sold its starter and alternator product lines to Hartzell.

In March, at HELI-EXPO 2013 in Las Vegas, Helicopter Association International (HAI) will premiere a new safety education initiative called the HAI Rotor Safety Challenge. This program, developed in coordination with the FAA Safety Team and the HAI Safety Committee, will include safety events, forums, and education sessions, conveniently scheduled on show days March 5 through 6. The program will include sessions created specifically for maintenance professionals.

Oakland, CA - FBO provider Business Jet Center (BJC) has added a large hangar in the Bay Area to its Oakland International Airport (OAK) leasehold. The 61,505-square-foot structure, which previously served as a cargo handling facility, is undergoing a $5 million renovation and will bring BJC's total designated business and general aviation hangar space at OAK to more than 155,000 square feet. The hangar features 28-foot-tall doors which can accommodate multiple large aircraft, including the Gulfstream 650.

Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. announces that it has been designated a 2013 Top 100 Military Friendly Employer® by G.I. Jobs. This marks the first time the company has been included in the Top 100 Military Friendly Employers® list, which was compiled from a data-driven survey sample of 5,000 companies whose annual revenues exceeded $500 million. Criteria for selection to the Top 100 list included the strength of company military recruiting efforts, the percentage of new hires with prior military service, retention programs, and company policies on National Guard and Reserve service.

Greenwich AeroGroup, Inc. announces that it raised more than $2,100 for the Corporate Angel Network (CAN) last week during the National Business Aviation Association Convention (NBAA) in Orlando, FL. Tradeshow attendees made a donation of $10 or more for a chance to win one of two road bicycles worth approximately $800 each; the drawing was held the last day of the show. Greenwich AeroGroup chose bicycles as its donation draw due to the fact that some of the company’s employees currently participate in rides throughout the year raising awareness for CAN.

One of the NASCAR circuits leading drivers, Greg Biffle, recently had his Dassault Falcon 50 refurbished and repainted using some of the latest systems available from Sherwin-Williams Aerospace Coatings. The Falcon 50 is one of several aircraft in the ‘Air Biffle’ livery, based at the Statesville, NC airport, which also includes a Cessna 210 and a Bell 206 L3 helicopter.

As part of the overall development strategy for Cambridge Airport and Marshall Business Aviation (MBA), it has been decided to bring together all business aviation-related activities under the management of Steve Jones, Managing Director, MBA/MEA. For practical purposes, this will include the overall responsibility for the development of business aviation strategy, the management of business aviation, hangars and ramp facilities and the FBO (fixed base operations) which is currently franchised operationally to ExecuJet.

Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. today announced plans to increase employment at its Brunswick, Ga., facility by approximately 20 percent in the next year to support growing volume in completions work.  The site currently has 174 employees, including nearly 90 technicians.

East Alton, IL - West Star Aviation recently announced changes within its sales team. Greg Byrnes has been named senior vice president of sales, while Rick Brainard (previously vice president of sales) moves to the role of vice president of business development. The changes are effective immediately. Byrnes acted as vice president of sales and new business development at Gulfstream Aerospace for the last 17 years. As a new member of the West Star team, he will be responsible for generating the maintenance and modification sales for all West Star Aviation locations.

Vero Beach, FL - Piper Aircraft Inc. The Aeronautical Repair Station Association (ARSA) announces that the FAA could see its budget slashed by more than $1 billion if sequestration goes ahead as planned according to the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB). OMB reported that the FAA will have its $15.9 billion budget reduced by $1.04 billion annually, stating that the FAA’s “ability to oversee and manage the Nation’s airspace and air traffic control will be reduced.”
