Aspen Avionics, manufacturer of the Evolution Flight Display, and Avidyne Corporation, a provider of integrated flight deck solutions, announce that certification is imminent for the interface between the Avidyne DFC90 Digital Autopilot and the Aspen Evolution Pro Primary Flight Display, and is expected in the next ninety days. Initial certifications will be in Avidyne's Cessna 182 and in Aspen's Cirrus SR22, with additional plans to seek installation approval on the Beech Bonanza in second quarter of 2012.

Associated Aircraft Group (AAG), the East Coast’s premier executive helicopter service, is celebrating its achievement of more than 40,000 hours of safe flying in its fleet of Sikorsky S-76® helicopters. The company’s achievement encompasses more than 17 years of operating the S-76 helicopter.

Dallas Airmotive’s Singapore Regional Turbine Center (RTC) has been awarded its operating certificate by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS). The RTC is authorized by Honeywell for TFE731 major periodic inspection (MPI) services and line maintenance on TFE731, CFE738 and HTF7000 engines as well as line maintenance on RE100, RE220 and 36 series APUs.

At NBAA last October, a young lady walked right up to our booth and said, “Hi Joe, I’m Danielle Burke with SunQuest Executive Air Charter, and I believe our DOM would make a great cover story for your magazine.” I asked Danielle to tell me a little bit about their DOM. “Well, our DOM is young, intelligent, hard-working and a valuable member of our team,” she said. “And by the way, she is a female!”

I’m surprised at how the word “communication” is so easy to pronounce, and almost everyone believes is easily accomplished. But is it? As a director of maintenance, this one single word could be the key to your success! We know that in a large operation, whether it is an MRO or aircraft management company, the structure is such that there are many departments that make up the whole of the operation. Being a good communicator has to be at the top of our list to bring our specific department up to its best performance level that can be achieved.

The announcement was made on Friday, January 27th, at the annual awards banquet held at Two Rivers Convention Center in Grand Junction. I was recently following an online discussion on the shortage of aircraft mechanics in the industry.  Most people that were involved in the discussion felt that good, qualified mechanics are difficult, if not impossible to find. This is a discussion that I am hearing more frequently these days as the problem continues to grow.

Dallas - H+S Aviation, a member of the BBA Aviation Engine Repair and Overhaul (ERO) group of companies, reports a banner year of operations as the Portsmouth, UK-based company added test cell services to its PT6T Twin-Pac capabilities. Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6T Twin-Pac engines are used on Agusta/Bell Model 412, Bell 212 and Sikorsky S-58T helicopters. H+S Aviation is a Pratt & Whitney Canada-authorized PT6T Distributor and Designated Overhaul Facility (DDOF).
