As I write this column, it is two weeks after the Super Bowl. These days, the Super Bowl isn’t just a football game to decide the NFL championship. It has become a spectacle of big dollars — not only in the expenses forked out for flashy pre-game festivities and half time shows, but also with the commercials that appear during breaks in play.

Before the early versions of the Internet (originally known as ARPANET) ever existed, the airline industry had developed a means to perform data transfers globally via proprietary networks. This need was driven not only by the expansion of airlines and operators moving into every corner of our ever-shrinking world, but by the need to manage their operations and interact with their business partners better. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) assigned the name Type B to the format of the messages.

Duncan Aviation recently completed the Android™ version of its popular AOG Services app, which makes it easy for Aircraft on Ground (AOG) operators to find the nearest Duncan Aviation location to their current position. The app also offers 24/7 phone numbers and technical representative contact information.
The first version of Duncan Aviation’s AOG Services app was launched in September 2011 for Apple devices. Since then, several improvements have been made. The app is accessible in the field and doesn’t require a data connection after it’s installed.

Duncan Aviation recently certified the installation of an L-3 Communications Avionics Systems GH-3900.2 Electronic Standby Instrument System for Dassault Falcon 2000 and 2000EX aircraft. This multi-use Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) also includes a Securaplane standby instruments backup battery.
The installation was completed at Duncan Aviation’s Battle Creek, MI, facility, supported by a sales, certification, engineering and production team that included members from across multiple Duncan Aviation locations.

GREENSBORO, NC - Atlantic Aero, a Greenwich AeroGroup company, announces that the FAA has approved it to add the Cessna Citation X to its repair station license.
Atlantic Aero has invested more than $150,000 in new tooling, training and other related expenses to add the Citation X certification to its repair station license. The company has much prior experience providing interior updates for Citation X operators. The addition of the product to Atlantic Aero’s repair license enables it to complete maintenance activities.

Teterboro, NJ - Aviation staff solutions provider Jet Professionals began as a two-person company in Shelton, CT, in 1983, created by a pilot and his colleague who saw the need for crew member staffing. Jet Aviation acquired the organization in 1996, thus moving its corporate headquarters to Teterboro, NJ. The company has since expanded globally and added new services.
