WASHINGTON – The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) today issued a new rule to enhance aviation safety by requiring scheduled airlines to install ice detection equipment in their existing fleets or to update their flight manuals to make sure crews know when they should activate their ice protection systems.  The new rule targets scheduled airlines with aircraft weighing 60,000 lbs or less.

ACES announces the acquisition and merger of Technology for Energy Corporation / ACES Systems, Knoxville TN and Dynamic Instruments, San Diego, CA.  Effective February 24, 2011, the operations of the Dynamic Instruments Military Vibrations Product Line transferred to Technology for Energy Corporation (TEC). TEC, under its ACES Systems Division, designs and manufactures aviation maintenance test equipment that is sold primarily into the commercial aviation markets.

“It amazes me how you come up with subject matter for your editorial. Great job.” Wayne M. Bailey Mr. Bailey sent an email to me after the last issue came out (see Readers Speak on page 8) stating he was amazed how I come up with subject matter for my editorial column. Here are what I think are the two most important factors that help me write my columns. First of all, I am an A&P mechanic. I have worked in the industry since 1988. Second — I pay attention. Whether it is at a trade show or touring a maintenance facility, I tend to listen and observe.

Loyalty Joe, It amazes me how you come up with subject matter for your editorial. Great job. Your column in the July/August issue on loyalty was extremely interesting and gave me pause to think about loyalty and friendships. Hopefully, the two go hand-in-hand.
