West Star Aviation announces three personnel changes at its Grand Junction (GJT) location. Ken Rice, T.J. Jaeger and Jason Blust have all been promoted from their current positions within the West Star organization. Ken Rice, who previously held the position of Gulfstream/Learjet Program Manager, has been promoted to director of maintenance. Hawker Beechcraft Corporation (HBC) announced at NBAA that all of its turbine-powered aircraft are approved to use biofuels — a renewable resource that can help reduce the use of fossil fuels and minimize carbon emissions. To be used in HBC aircraft, they must meet American Society for Testing and Materials International (ASTM) turbine fuel standards.

Donaldson Aerospace & Defense, a division of Donaldson Company, Inc., has obtained Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval for the first Inlet Barrier Filter (IBF) system available for the Eurocopter AS350B3e model helicopter with the Turbomeca Arriel 2D engine. The Donaldson IBF approval adds the AS350B3e to the existing Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for both single hydraulic aircraft (PN#112005-101) and dual hydraulic aircraft (PN#121001-101).

Honeywell Aerospace has approved Executive Aircraft Maintenance (EAM) of Scottsdale, AZ to provide TPE331 turboprop component repair services.  EAM is authorized to perform Level 3 Services on TPE331-1 through -14 engine components, subcomponents and parts listed in Honeywell maintenance manuals within EAM’s FAA-approved capabilities.

Duncan Aviation has recently updated its Straight Talk About RVSM ebook to include the newest information from the FAA clarifying requirements for Height Monitoring. This addition makes the book an even more valuable tool to understanding FAA RVSM maintenance programs.  “Though nearly every general aviation aircraft required to be RVSM-certified has received RVSM certification, maintaining that certification has become a cloudy process for operators” says Jeff King, Duncan Aviation’s chief inspector of Satellites and Components.
