When one of your people undertakes a major project, track the individual’s progress by first having him or her agree with you on the feedback system you will use.

More than 40 years ago. Probably best remembered for the “original, one and only” Woodstock Music Festival and the man on the moon. A lot has changed in the last 40 years, but some of the ideas that came about in that era are still applicable today, even though they have mostly been forgotten. Laurence Peter and Raymond Hull’s 1969 book “The Peter Principle” received a lot of publicity and recognition when it came out, and interestingly enough, the basic principles still apply today, with virtually no changes required to them.

From photographs alone, we can see that Willa Beatrice Brown (Chappell) was beautiful, daring and a trifle flamboyant. Beyond her broad smile and beneath her fashionable white jodhpur flying costume was an academic with a rare talent for business administration. She was also fearless on many levels while racial segregation permeated public schools and the military.

If you are a DOM for a Part 135 air carrier, you have likely signed an airworthiness release to return an aircraft to service after an inspection or repair. You may have even done so without doing any of the actual work, but rather relying upon other mechanics that actually performed the inspection or repair. However, as a recent opinion issued by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) shows, you may be signing the airworthiness release at your own peril.

If I may offer my readers some advice on preparing for their 2011 parts requirements, it is this: buy early. I have been observing the price of aircraft parts and its impact on the market for many years. I am less than encouraged by what I see.
Several fleet operators over the years have asked me for my predictions on price increases for parts. Now, it isn’t the prices that I am concerned about. It is the supply. I am genuinely concerned about the technical ability of many important manufacturers to provide parts in a reasonable timeframe.

Spirit Avionics Ltd. has successfully completed the prototype aircraft’s upgrades for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Program management, cngineering and Certification services were provided by Spirit Avionics Ltd. The technical services for this program were performed in unison by Spirit Avionics, Lane Aviation and Tritex Air. Now that the prototype’s design has been approved by the FAA program team, Spirit Avionics and their subcontracting team will begin the process of upgrading the remaining 17 King Air B300 aircraft over the next 4 years.

Cessna Aircraft Company is adding three new maintenance trucks to its international ground-based Mobile Service Unit (MSU) fleet serving Citations across North America and Europe.
The latest mobile additions to the Citation Service Center support network became active in December. They are positioned in Colorado and Indiana in the United States and in Lyon, France. These MSUs will be joined soon by more MSUs in North America, including five in the United States and one in Canada, and another unit in Europe.
