On opening day of the 2025 Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) AirVenture Oshkosh show, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company announces it will donate its last remaining blimp gondola frame to the EAA Museum as part of a new children’s exhibit. The gondola frame is from Goodyear’s GZ20-model era of blimps that spanned nearly 40 years. In that time period, as one blimp retired, its gondola was often refurbished for a new blimp.

The Blackhawk Group (TBG) announces that it has been named the exclusive distributor in North and South America for the supplemental type certificate (STC) covering the Piper Meridian engine replacement program from MT-Propeller, which transforms the aircraft into the “X-Range” Meridian. This STC replaces the factory-installed PT6A-42A engine with the lighter, more efficient, and cost-effective Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-135A.

The Blackhawk Group (TBG) announces that the company has completed and submitted a supplemental type certificate (STC) data package to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for imminent approval of its highly anticipated XP66D Engine+ upgrade for the Daher TBM 700 series aircraft. The upgrade replaces the original 700-horsepower PT6A-64 engine with the more powerful 850-horsepower PT6A-66D, bringing TBM 700 performance on par with the TBM 850 by providing a 21% increase in available shaft horsepower (SHP).

Aims Community College launches a new aircraft maintenance technician program to meet the urgent demand for certified aviation mechanics. Prospective students can now apply to the program to earn an Associate of Applied Science in Aircraft Maintenance Technician degree in two years, over six semesters. The college will add certificate options as the program evolves.

Embraer (NYSE: ERJ; B3: EMBR3), Viasat, Inc., and Aeromexico announce installation of advanced in-flight internet connectivity on Aeromexico’s E190 jets, further integrating the airline’s fleet with fast Wi-Fi for its customers. Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) announces that its Aspire 350 satellite communications system has been selected by Dassault Aviation for continued use across its Falcon family of business jets. Certifications for Aspire 350 use are now complete on Falcon 2000 and Falcon 6X, with Falcon 8X availability expected this month. Operators of the BR710C4-11-powered Gulfstream G550 can now enroll their engines and APUs with EAP.
