We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic (AM equivalent) specializing in MH-60R MH-60S Planned Maintenance Interval (PMI) / O-Level Maintenance Squadron Support located at Rota Spain. The Sheet Metal Mechanic performs fabrication, repair, and modification of aircraft structural components. This position requires expertise in reading technical drawings and blueprints, using precision tools, and ensuring all work meets structural, safety, and quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 yearsrsquo; experience in complex aviation operations related to PMI programs.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal parts, panels, and structural assemblies.
  • Repair or replace damaged or worn structural components.
  • Measure, mark, and lay out materials in accordance with specifications.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment to cut, bend, rivet, and finish sheet metal.
  • Perform corrosion prevention, inspection, and treatment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and repair manuals.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure proper alignment, fit, and adherence to specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior personnel as needed.
  • Duties may include, but not limited to, collateral duties as a Painter, NDI or IMRL Coordinator
Requirements: 

Minimum of 8 yearsrsquo; current or previous experience performing complex helicopter mechanical work, to include, but not limited to:

  • Removing fixed sheet metal and composite structures from aircraft: disassembling structural and non-structural metal and composite components.
  • Assessing damaged parts to determine the sequence of operations necessary to affect repairs or replacements
  • Repairing structural parts and skin surfaces of fuselages, tail section, doors, pilot seats, tail cones, engine cowls, and fairings by straightening, reforming, or reshaping, bent, twisted or distorted portions with press brakes, bending rolls, shrinking and stretching machines, or forming blocks
  • Cutting out or otherwise removing damaged parts and insert new parts or patches.
  • Modifying aircraft and aircraft components by incorporating airframe changes (AFC), bulletins, etc.
  • Lays out, cuts, drills, bends, forms and shapes sheet metal and extruded metal stock
  • Using standard tools of the trade and special tools, such as press brakes, metal cutting equipment, shrinking, stretching, and forming machines, hydraulic presses, punch presses, turret punches, drill presses, etc.
  • Operating more complex hand and power machines, e.g., sliproll forming machines, box and pan breaks, rotary machines with extra forming rolls, and crimpers and beading machines.
  • Completing operations by deburring, filing, drilling and smoothing parts by hand.
  • Chemically treating surfaces reworked. Assessing completed assemblies to ensure compliance with technical references
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, schematics, etc.
  • Skilled in the use of a wide variety of complicated hand and power tools, as well as precision measuring instruments, associated with the trade
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Pass a background check
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card or ROTA Base Access ID
  • Active Secret security clearance, or the ability to obtain one, if required
  • FAA Airframe Powerplant (A P) Certificate or military equivalent (AM rating) qualification
  • Proficiency with maintenance tracking systems (e.g., NALCOMIS, OOMA, ALIS, or equivalent)
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Extensive knowledge of MH-60R/S systems and maintenance procedures
  • Exceptional working knowledge of NAMP (COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2), NALCOMIS/OOMA, and ASM

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and manipulate 50lbs independently when needed.
  • Ability to climb and stand on ladders when necessary.
  • Must be able to repeatedly enter and exit aircraft using stationary steps/stairs.
  • Position involves long periods of standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, crawling on aircraft structure and around aircraft for maintenance functions.
  • Position may require use and/or exposure to fuels, oils, hydraulic fluids and cleaning solvents.
  • Position is located near or in a high noise area within an aircraft hangar / flightline environment.
  • FIT for Duty Physical is required.
  • May require DOT and Respiratory Physicals.

This position is contingent upon contract award.
