Auburn University has received the nation’s first FAA approval to operate a new Unmanned Aircraft Systems Flight School as part of the Auburn University Aviation Center.
“This is an honor for Auburn University,” says Bill Hutto, director of the Auburn University Aviation Center. “We will conduct commercial flight training for operators of unmanned aircraft systems outdoors and untethered. We will have the ability to offer training courses at different locations here and around the state for Auburn students, faculty, members of other public agencies and the general public.”

Rockwell Collins’ Flight2TM avionics were onboard when Cascade Aerospace officially delivered the modernized C-130K aircraft to the Mexican Air Force during a ceremony April 23 at the Feria Aeroespacial Mexico Air Show 2015.
In November 2013, Cascade received a contract as part of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the Canadian and Mexican governments, for maintenance and modernization of the Fuerza Aérea Mexicana (FAM) C-130K aircraft. Rockwell Collins was selected in 2014 to provide avionics for the aircraft.

As an industry, we hear about various experiments with differing approaches to electric aircraft. Some of these announcements have been in regards to solar-powered aircraft staying aloft for long periods of time, and others have concentrated replacing legacy propulsion (namely gas-powered engines) and control systems with electronics by getting rid of heavy pneumatic/hydraulic systems. The first set of seemingly true aircraft breakthroughs are now emerging due to essentially copying the Toyota Prius approach — namely, a hybrid approach.

As you know, 14 C.F.R. §91.409(a) requires that an aircraft must undergo an annual inspection every 12 calendar months or sooner in order for that aircraft to be airworthy. Once that inspection is complete, what is the holder of an inspection authorization (IA) required to do to document the annual inspection? What maintenance record entry is required and where must that entry be made?

Lufthansa Technik AG Announces10-Year Component Supply Agreement with U.S. Carrier Frontier Airlines

Hamburg-based maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider Lufthansa Technik AG and U.S. low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines have signed a comprehensive long-term component supply agreement for the airline’s current and future fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft. The contract will run through November, 2024.
The Total Component Support (TCS®) agreement covers component overhaul and engineering services as well as pooling and Home Base Lease. The component supply will be realized via the Lufthansa Technik facilities in Miami / Fort Lauderdale and Los Angeles.
