The Italian airline NEOS and Lufthansa Technik AG have extended their existing cooperation. Lufthansa Technik started its Total Component Support TCS® for the NEOS fleet in 2002. The contract extension will run by further five years. The current NEOS fleet is composed of six Boeings 737-800W (Winglet) and two Boeings 767-300ERW (Extended Range Winglet) with a third 767-300ERW operating from June 2015.
The Total Component Support TCS® agreement covers component repair and overhaul services as well as pooling, to support Neos’ daily operations.

On February 25, The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) called into question new moves to diminish access to Santa Monica Airport (SMO), and pledged to continue fighting such efforts.
The Association’s latest statements about preserving SMO access follow a Feb. 23 vote by the Santa Monica Airport Commission, recommending that the city council move ahead with proposals to implement costly new leases for tenants, close a portion of the airport’s runway and enact a new emissions ordinance at SMO.

Breeze-Eastern Corporation, the aerospace industry’s only dedicated hoist and winch specialist, announces it has reduced commercial spare parts delivery times from 90 days to less than 30, and the most commonly ordered spares are now reaching customers in just 14 days. Commercial overhaul and repair turn times have also steadily declined and have been cut in half over the last two years.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) needs to reform its regulatory and certification processes, including allowing more pilots to fly without obtaining a third-class medical and making it easier to bring safety technology into the cockpit, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) told a U.S. House of Representatives Aviation Subcommittee roundtable on Feb. 25.
“The general aviation community needs a regulatory and certification environment that can keep pace with rapidly changing technology,” says Jim Coon, AOPA senior vice president of government affairs.

In past articles, I have discussed FAA legal enforcement actions in which the FAA has suspended or revoked a mechanic’s certificate or the certificate of an air carrier or repair station, or has assessed a civil penalty against a certificate holder. In those situations, the FAA believed the regulatory violations committed by the certificate holders justified legal enforcement action to suspend or revoke the offending party’s certificate(s) or to assess a civil penalty, rather than simply resolving the violation through an administrative action.

We deal with many acronyms in our industry. An A&P might install an STC on a customer’s SR22 at an MRO. We regularly deal with the FAA, NTSB, TSA, OSHA and other federal agencies.
Then there are the industry groups and associations — EAA, AOPA, AEA, ARSA and NBAA to name a few.
It’s like an alphabet soup! If you are having some alphabet soup, there are some letters you should consider including: AMC and NBAA MMC.
