FlightSafety International announces that it will offer training for Gulfstream G450 and G550 aircraft at its Learning Center in Dallas, Texas. The new Gulfstream G450/G550 interchangeable simulator is scheduled to be shipped to FlightSafety’s Learning Center in Dallas, Texas next year. Training will begin following Level D qualification of the simulator. With this addition, and the company’s recent announcement that it will offer Gulfstream G450 and G550 training in Hong Kong, FlightSafety will have a fleet of ten Gulfstream G450 and G550 full flight simulators.

The Aircraft Electronics Association released the results from its 2011 Rate & Labor Survey this week to participating AEA member companies. The complete AEA Rate & Labor Survey is now available for purchase for non-members. In comparing this year’s annual survey results with the 2010 Rate & Labor Survey, the AEA discovered some improvements in business outlook despite business activity that appears to be leveling off in 2011.

If you hold a mechanic certificate with airframe and powerplant ratings, you know that you need an inspection authorization (IA) issued under FAR 65.91 in order to perform and sign off on an annual or progressive inspection, or to inspect an aircraft and return it to service after a major repair or major alteration. In order to obtain an IA, a mechanic must meet the eligibility requirements of Section 65.91(c). Section 65.93(a) incorporates those same requirements for renewal of an IA. An IA is issued for a two-year period and expires on March 31 of odd-numbered years.
